Reorganization: Should your job accept change?

Questioner

My manager wants to change my function. My current function is manager of a team of it consultants. The new function is consultant in the same level as in my current team. The reason given is the loss of this current consultant organization, the consultant function will then be merged with another consultant team. The consultant activities remain the same. Salary etc. also remain the same. There is no question of non-functioning. There is only a motivation from an efficiency, profit point of view that one wants this. The question now is whether I should accept this, or whether I can challenge this decision in court. I have no objection to other work or function, as long as it is offered at the same level. However, the manager claims to have no other option and proposes to lower my function from manager to Sr consultant, which is 2 steps back. Eg There is a team leader function in addition to manager. What is wise to do here? Not accept, after which a reorganization request eg Request for dismissal is possibly requested. Or accept this Demotte?
