Installing a canopy without a permit? Get free advice!
Questioner
Our neighbours want to place a canopy of 2.60 high x 5.5 metres long against the property boundary. There is now a hedera screen of 1.90 metres high. When I asked the municipality, I was told that this is possible without a permit. You are allowed to place a structure of 30 m2 on your own land of max. 3 metres high. Our beautiful view is seriously obstructed by this. Can you tell me if this is really the case or if this law is perhaps being misinterpreted? I could imagine that there would be a restriction with a certain distance to the property boundary with neighbors.Lawyer
This is indeed allowed. However, a number of conditions must be met, such as no window within 2 meters of the property boundary, no view of the neighbors' land, etc. So unfortunately there is little that can be done.Take the next step
