Tenant and washing machine: Your rights
Questioner
I rent an independent house in a larger complex. In this house there is no washing machine connection and drainage provided. There is a central laundry with 1 (!) washing machine for 100 houses, for which you also pay the main price (3.50 per wash). Therefore I am considering buying a washing machine and having it connected myself. However, the landlord states that this is not allowed. The contract does not mention this. The only mention is that no changes may be made that cannot be reversed without significant costs upon departure. This would then concern an additional coupling for the supply and discharge of water, which can easily be changed back. Does the landlord have the right to (1) prohibit me from owning a washing machine and (2) require me to connect it to a connection that can be reversed?Lawyer
The change you want to make is favorable to the landlord and in my opinion he may not refuse you to keep your own washing machine under the circumstances mentioned. However, you could also first summon him to place more machines in the central location in proportion to the residents.Take the next step
