Informal Care and Babysitting: What is covered?
Questioner
Would like to know if babysitting grandchildren is also possible under maternity care fallsLawyer
The National Council for Public Health uses the following definition of informal care: Informal care is care that is not provided within the context of a care-providing profession to a person in need of care by one or more members of that person's immediate environment, where the care provision directly arises from the social relationship. Informal caregivers are people who provide long-term and unpaid care for a chronically ill, disabled or needy person in their environment. This can be a partner, parent or child, but also another family member, friend or acquaintance. If you are simply babysitting, this is not informal care.Questioner
