Unemployment benefit information: Tax and back payments

Son has been unemployed since 4-1-2016. Still receives final settlement from employer with paid vacation hours and vacation pay. This does not affect his unemployment benefit, does it? His last 2 weeks of wages are also paid out if he is unemployed. This can't affect his unemployment benefit, can it? Opinions are divided on this.

Only income earned on or after 04-01-2016 will affect your son's unemployment benefit. Back payments of income earned before 04-01-2016 will not affect the unemployment benefit.
