Claim damages from a contractor after bed bugs?
Questioner
For my work I regularly sleep in a hotel of my employer. Bedbugs were found there. Because my girlfriend had a lot of itching and red spots we were afraid that there were bedbugs in our house too. As a precaution my employer paid the costs for heating my house, but the company that was supposed to pay for that postponed the dates on which the heating was going to be done several times. As a result we lived in an uninhabitable house for a month and a half and my girlfriend became overstrained because of all the troubles. We also suffered a lot of damage during the heating (central heating broken, leakage in all PVC connections). Can I recover that damage from the contractor? And can I also claim compensation for the psychological damage we suffered? Not a single bedbug was found in our house. The contractor also did not do an inspection. I suspect that the contractor used us to get a big job. What should I do?Lawyer
If the contractor has done something wrong, he is liable for the damage he has caused and should also be insured. To confirm your suspicion, it is wise to inform another pest controller about what has been done wrong, and to hire a construction expert to record the damage. Everything on paper with a price. If your suspicion is confirmed, you can recover the damage from the contractor who caused the damage. If you have further help and/or advice, please feel free to contact me.Take the next step
