Advice on Construction Disputes - Legal Advice Centre

Questioner

We received a quote from a construction company for work on our home. This quote calculated 87.5 hours of labor. During the discussion of the quote, the entrepreneur confirmed that the work would be the work for 5 to 6 days for two personnel. In total, 10 to 12 days. Based on his explanation, we gave him the order and signed the quote. Afterwards it turned out that the work was completed within 6 days. In the quotation, more than 40 hours were calculated too much. However, we still have to pay the full amount of the quote! The entrepreneur does not answer our questions (4 times in total) about this large difference in hours. His only response: an agreement is an agreement and no hours have been charged too much. We have now received a reminder (for the unpaid part of the invoice) and he is 'threatening' us with a large amount in collection costs. What can we do about this?????

And the work was still done by two workers? You may then hold the contractor to the quoted price, he may deviate from it by 10% but no more than that.

If the number of hours is included in the quote, you obviously do not have to pay for hours that were not worked. However, usually a total contract sum is agreed. So it really depends on what is stated in the quote that you accepted. For further information, please contact me directly.
