Transferring ownership of a house after a divorce
Questioner
My ex-girlfriend and I bought a house together in the past. We have since separated. We had taken out a life insurance policy that was linked to the house we bought. My ex has since moved and now, at my insistence, we want to put the house in my name. We have never drawn up a cohabitation contract or anything like that. I am really a novice in mortgage matters. I found something about a deed of partition, but that was mainly for divorced couples. My question is then. How do I arrange this. What do I have to do for it.Lawyer
Because you own the house together with your ex, if you want to take over her half, this must be recorded in a notarial deed. This deed is called a deed of division. It is best to contact a notary about this.Take the next step
