Rental income and unemployment benefits: What to do?
Questioner
I have been unemployed since May 31 and receive unemployment benefits. Now I am going abroad for 5 weeks in 2 weeks and I would like to rent out my house. I can then stop my unemployment benefits for 5 weeks or take them as vacation. I will exceed the 20 vacation days, but then I will simply not be paid anymore. Now my question is; do I have to report this rental income to the UWV if I decide to take it as a holiday? I understood that rental income does not fall under 'income from employment', but the UWV itself gives me many contradictory answers. Can anyone advise me?Lawyer
You do not need to report the rental income, because this has no effect on the determination and amount of your unemployment benefit. You can go on holiday and are entitled to 20 days of holiday per year, which is awarded proportionally depending on when the benefit starts in the year.Take the next step
