Compulsory training and compensation from employer

Questioner

Ir/Madam, I have been working as a caregiver (CAO VVT) in a nursing home for the same employer for years. My work requires me to follow a Company Emergency Response training. This consists of five and a half hours of theory and three exams of 30 minutes. Plus a practical afternoon of 4 hours. Now my employer states that the theory part and the exams are preparation and that preparing for a training is 'own time'. My question is: Is this correct because I am required to follow this training because my employer must have permanent BHV 'ers present.

Lawyer

In the case of a compulsory course, the employer is obliged to reimburse both the costs and the time. This also applies to the theoretical part and the exams.

Unfortunately, it is not the case that you can claim compensation based on your collective labor agreement. This may be different based on your employment contract. It is true that the principle of good employment practices applies. So you can send arguments to your employer based on what you already say.
