Furniture Warranty: What are your rights?

Questioner

We moved last year. Now 1 year later there is a door in a sliding wall cabinet that no longer opens and closes properly. I had asked the previous occupant for the details of who I could contact. I called the relevant business. I told them about the complaint and was told that there was a 10-year warranty on the hinges and locks, so an appointment would be made to come by. Great! Then they called later to say that the warranty on the cabinet is not transferable? I thought this was so strange? My question is, is this correct, can they apply this??? Awaiting your answer.

This is possible but must be explicitly stated in the conditions and moreover if the condition is stated it can be unreasonably onerous and be set aside if an appeal to it is not reasonable. And that is the case if the guarantee concerns a non-personal matter. In principle a given guarantee belongs to the ancillary rights, a matter belonging to the product and subsequent.
