Mandatory testifying to the police?

I have been called as a witness by the police to testify against a drug dealer. Am I obliged to do so or can I refuse?

You are not obliged to respond to a summons from the police to make a statement. If you would like to make a statement, but would rather not have your personal details made public, you may be able to make an anonymous statement. It is best to contact the police in advance to make your intention known. If you receive a summons at a later stage to make a statement to the judge, you are obliged to appear.
