Seizure after divorce: Your questions answered
Questioner
After the divorce, the bailiff had seized our house where there is 'negative value'. This for the parking fines of my ex (then still married). After years, I can't take the mortgage on myself because it is seized. Can a house be seized during a divorce on a house from which nothing can be recovered (debt of one of the partners?) My ex refuses to pay his fines and executor. Or do I still have to cough up the 2000,- if I want to continue?Lawyer
Yes, this seizing party may seize. If you still want to obtain the house exclusively in your name, you could choose to pay these 2000,- yourself after which the seizing can be lifted. If these fines have been assigned to your ex in the divorce proceedings, you can then hold him accountable (possibly in legal proceedings if he does not pay voluntarily) to have him repay that amount to you. If desired, I can assist you in this.Take the next step
