Assistance with fines and breach of contract | Legal Aid Centre
Questioner
I have sold my house and now cancelled my Essent electricity/gas contract. It turns out that I still have a contract running and I have to pay a fine of 125 euros per part. I understand that it is a breach of contract, but I have no other house to take this with because I am temporarily moving in with a friend until I have found something. is this fine justified?Lawyer
In principle this is correct if there is a fixed-term agreement. If you terminate that agreement within that period for whatever reason, except for moving, then you will owe a fine.Take the next step
