Cancelling the purchase of a car - Legal advice

Questioner

Decline to purchase a new car Yesterday I closed a deal to buy a new car. Today I get the message from the garage that my life partner (actually living together) should co-sign for the financing. (The financing was requested by the seller.) Unfortunately, my partner now thinks differently and does not want to do this because of other future plans. The order form states: In the event of a sale to the consumer, as defined in Article 1, 3e of the Act of 6 April 2010 on market practices and consumer protection, concluded outside the premises of the company, the following clause applies: 'Within seven working days, starting from the day following the day of signing this contract, the consumer has the right to cancel his purchase, free of charge, provided that he informs the company of this by registered letter. Any clause whereby the consumer would waive this right is null and void. As regards compliance with the deadline, it is sufficient that the notification is sent before its expiry. The following was also stated in writing with my signature: 'subject to financing with co-signature 'name partner'' Can I cancel the sale free of charge by sending a registered letter within 7 working days? So, what should definitely be included in the registered letter?

Yes, you can if you have concluded the deal online. You state in the letter that you are cancelling the purchase, a reason is not necessary, and that you want any money paid back as soon as possible. Incidentally, the cooling-off period is not 7 days but 14 days.
