What does 'living' mean legally?
Questioner
What is the legal meaning of 'living'? I officially live abroad and occasionally stay in the Netherlands for a few days in a building where I am not allowed to live according to a legal agreement. But I do not live there. If I sleep there for a night or two, does that mean I live there? And if there is a bed, or a kitchen, does that automatically mean that someone lives there?Lawyer
No, then you do not live there, only stay. In fiscal and social European context you can only have one residential address. Living is with the view to staying permanently, most nights of the week - where your social life takes place.Questioner
Thank you very much. So what can I do if I am confronted about this by the neighbor who had the clause put in the purchase contract?Lawyer
