Alimony and Registered Partnership: What to Expect?

Questioner

With my ex-partner I have a daughter (6) and I pay child support for her every month. I see my daughter every other weekend. I do not pay spousal support for my ex-partner. My current partner has 3 children (6, 9, 10) with her ex-husband and they have co-parenting. They deposit their share of the child support plus child benefit into a joint account every month. She does not receive spousal support. My partner is now 4 months pregnant with our child and we want to enter into a registered partnership soon. We live together. I hope to get some information from you about what effect this will have on both my child support to my ex-partner and her child support with her ex-husband. Does this affect our ability to pay and the amount of alimony to be paid? We both have an income, I work full-time and my partner part-time.

Lawyer

This can certainly affect alimony. Both you and your partner will have a different position regarding your mutual maintenance obligations for the children. In order to be able to assess what this means in concrete terms, I would need more (financial) information and I invite you to contact me for this.
