Can your employer ask for your health insurance card?

My employer asks for a copy of my health insurance card. They state that if they call the ER or GP post in response to an industrial accident, the operator will ask for this. By collecting this information, it would speed up my care in the event of an industrial accident. But is the employer allowed to ask me for this information?

The employer may ask for it, but you are not obliged to provide that copy. I would also assess whether the request is reasonable? Who and where is the copy kept? I would at least write COPY in large letters when you provide the copy
