Good evening, My father is dying and his girlfriend took him into her home to care for him after he was discharged from the hospital. My brother and I are suspicious of her intentions, since she also took/received his bank card. My father is in a very bad way and only partly notices what is happening around him. We do not know what to do to secure his banking affairs, since we will soon be responsible for the consequences of any misuse of this. Are there any rules or laws for this, so that we can claim this pass? Kind regards B.R.Lawyer
As long as your father is alive, you can do little to nothing legally. After your father's death, it is up to his heirs to take over and settle his (bank) affairs. Who the heirs are and whether (other) testamentary arrangements have been made by your father, will only become apparent after his death. In fact, you can of course try to have as much contact as possible with your father and his girlfriend, which may also give you an opportunity to gain insight into your father's finances.Take the next step
