Rent increase during renovation - Legal advice

I live in an apartment that I rent. When I showed my interest, I was told that the rent would be increased by 100 euros because a new kitchen would be installed. Is this allowed? If I still want a new kitchen now that I live there, I will pay 100 euros more per month.
