Legal Question about Defective Product?

Questioner

As a seller, I accept a defective product from an end user who does not wish to make use of the manufacturer's ongoing warranty ('bad feeling about'). I cooperate, the end user chooses an alternative product and is satisfied (and so am I). Now I want to report the product to my supplier as being defective, but they refer me to the manufacturer. They can repair the product, or exchange it for a refurbished model, but of course I can't sell that as new = expense item. Can my supplier just ignore my claim? If I am held responsible, I can close my shop with a bad batch of devices (not within my span of control).
