Legal Advice: Responsibility in Sales

Questioner

During final inspection the CV boiler worked, buyers have noticed this. Estate agent has indicated that the boiler is outdated (20 years). A few days after the transfer, the boiler turns out to be broken and the buyers want to recover costs from us. As a hidden defect and overdue maintenance. Do we have to pay?

Lawyer

No, no one should expect a 20-year-old central heating boiler to continue to work without problems for a long time. This is not a defect that the buyer can successfully address.

Questioner
