Legal Advice on Housing Problems
Questioner
Good afternoon, We live in a semi-detached house. The neighbor recently passed away. Now we know that the maintenance of the house is very poor and that there has been a leak in the roof of the house for years... the beams of the flat roof continue into our house... If we suffer damage as we suspect, who can we recover it from? There are no heirs, the municipality has the keys to the house and handles the settlement. Now a second question, we would like to buy the house as well, then we will merge the 2 properties. What do I need to do to make this happen? What do we need to take into account, permits, utility company, etc. etc. M Vr GrQuestioner
Good morning, I have not received any message yet and I am very curious about our next steps. Kind regards, AnjaLawyer
You can check in the land registry who the owner of the house is. This person is liable for the damage if it is related to the house. The owner is also the one who decides on the sale. You can consult with him or her, even if it turns out to be the municipality. You can, if necessary, engage the services of a real estate agent to assist you with your purchase.Take the next step
