Contractor ignores? Get help with legal questions!

Questioner

I had a contractor carry out a renovation on my business premises. The contractor did not adhere to the agreed date that the renovation would be completed (1 July 2017). He then made me a proposal for a final invoice. The final invoice included work and materials that were never carried out/delivered. I returned the final invoice with my adjustments and asked the contractor to contact me to come and handle the last delivery points and to respond to the final invoice that I had adjusted. I have not heard from him for six months now. Can he just ignore me and then send a final invoice in a few months? I would really like to complete the entire renovation now.

Unfortunately, you cannot force the contractor to complete the work. Is it an option to pay the undisputed portion of the invoice and let the contractor know that as far as you are concerned, the project is completed and settled?
