Showering at the football club: your rights
Questioner
Can a child be FORCED by the football club to shower at the club after training or a match?Lawyer
This falls under the 'locker room law' of the KNVB, or the shower policy. Care, hygiene and standards and values are of great importance to the KNVBLawyer
As former chairman of the disciplinary committee chamber Enschede and former chairman of the youth board of a football club I can tell you that there is no dressing room law at the KNVB. Of course it is true that care and hygiene - also at KNVB and therefore the football clubs - are important. This does not mean that a football club can force your child to shower at the club. If you as a parent object to this, I advise you to discuss your reasons for this with the youth board. It would be a shame if your child had to miss the beautiful sport of football.Questioner
Thank you for your clear answer.Lawyer
If you read carefully, the 'locker room law' is in brackets, which means that this is an ironic answer. It's a shame that 'the former chairman of the disciplinary committee' of a football club doesn't see that. According to the KNVB shower policy, this falls under the code of conduct; (...) 'Showering is part of sports and we assume that all players do so'. If there is a 'principled reason' (in brackets) then this can be submitted to the board.Questioner
Showering is part of exercising, yes... but luckily we also have a shower at home.Take the next step
