My ex and I agreed in our divorce settlement that he would pick up our 15 year old daughter every other weekend on Friday evening (which is usually around 5:00 PM) and bring her back on Sunday around 7:00 PM. Lately it has been a regular occurrence that he suddenly has to work and he lets me know about it through our daughter (we are not really on good terms), but now I don't have our daughter on those weekends so I also plan trips etc. Now my ex is of the opinion that it is my problem if he doesn't pick her up on Friday but on Saturday around 1:00 PM for example (he usually only lets me know the day before) and that I should arrange for a babysitter or something when I'm not there (I sometimes want to go away for the weekend with friends and I think I can just plan that in MY weekend. Now we have had words about it, because I am of the opinion: it is his weekend, so he should make sure that she is picked up, by his new wife or someone else, but it is his weekend, so his problem. He says back that it is my problem. What can I do about this? Because he has already indicated that the next time he will only come on Saturday, while I had plans for Friday evening and therefore have to cancel them because I do not feel like arguing with him again (he always puts our daughter in between so to protect her I dare not do/say anything) What can I do with this?

Good morning, agreements in the divorce agreement are binding. If your ex does not adhere to this, you can demand compliance with the agreement. If your ex does not cooperate, you could still try to solve the problems through mediation. If your ex does not comply, you will unfortunately have to enforce this through the court. For more information or questions, you can always contact us without obligation. yours sincerely,

Thanks for your answer. I can also assume that he has to arrange for a babysitter/someone to pick her up and that it is NOT up to me? That is correct, since it is his weekend? Regards

Good afternoon, That's absolutely right, but I would then record who that person is, because otherwise someone else will come to pick up your child every time. I don't think that's in the best interest of your daughter. Yours sincerely.
