Registering at address: What are the consequences?
Questioner
Good morning, I am going to live together with my girlfriend very soon. She is moving from another municipality to the municipality where I am already registered. She has to deregister at home because of her mother's financial situation; if my girlfriend remains registered there, she will have to give up a large part of her salary every month. We will rent an apartment in a house. Private. A contract for one year, with possible extension for another year. So it is an apartment without its own address. We would like to register my girlfriend with my parents. I will remain registered there. My mother-in-law's address will change to a single-person household and my parents' address will remain a multi-person household. The address we are actually moving to will remain a multi-person household. Are there any possible consequences to this solution? For the time being, we cannot register at the address where we are going to rent. In time, this will probably become possible (landlord is in a process with the municipality).Lawyer
If this is a 'temporary' process, this will not be a problem. If this situation lasts longer than 2 x 3 months, you can have major problems with it. Among other things with subsidies and allowances. According to the law, you are obliged to register at the address where you actually reside. If the landlord's process fails, you will have a major problem and will lose your rent.Take the next step
