Good afternoon, I bought a house with a piece of leasehold land behind it. On that piece of leasehold land a barn was built in 1987 by the previous residents. If it is the case that the shed was placed there illegally at the time, could I have problems with that 31 years later?

In that case, the lease agreement should normally provide a solution as to whether prior permission from the owner is required and, if so, whether this is the case. If nothing has been arranged, the leaseholder has the same rights to use and enjoy the land, which also includes the construction of a barn.
