Terminating a contract: What are your rights?
Questioner
In 2017 I signed a contract with a daily newspaper for a subscription for 36 months. I now want to cancel the newspaper, prematurely. I called, they indicated that I am not allowed to cancel my contract prematurely but that I am stuck with the contract until June 2020. I realize that I signed the contract myself but honestly I was not aware of the fact that it was a contract for 36 months. I did get a discount, I pay 23.83 per month for the daily newspaper. Not really a significant advantage I think. Is there anything I can do about this, I would like to get out of the contract.Lawyer
In principle, you are bound to the 3-year contract and you can only get out of it after the end of the contract, whereby you can (usually) get out of the contract after a notice period of 3 months. So you cannot cancel in the meantime, unless there is deception or error, but that does not seem to be the case here.
