Assistance with Caravan Storage Contracts

Questioner

Dear Sir/Madam, More than 7 years ago my wife and I signed a contract with a caravan storage facility. We moved and want to go to a local storage facility. The contracts were tacitly renewed every year. Now we are 1 month too late with the cancellation and, according to the storage facility, I am stuck with it for 1 year. Can this just happen? Isn't there a law for this? And if so? How do we tackle this now? By the way, the contact between the stable and us is excellent and we have met our annual obligations.

Lawyer

You have agreed to the terms in the contract so unfortunately you are stuck with it. The owner may want to release you from your obligations earlier (in consultation). Perhaps you can arrange a replacement and offer that. yours sincerely,
