Compensation for bicycle accident: tips & advice
Questioner
I was hit by a car while cycling. Only damage to my (brand new) bike. Car started driving from the left from a standstill, and because the driver wasn't paying attention, I was hit. Called the police because the driver couldn't produce a driver's license, they didn't appear here (!). Sent the damage form. The other party claims to have sent it to his insurance company, but I (still my insurance, no legal assistance unfortunately) haven't heard from them for months. The other party refuses to make the insurance company known to me, so I can't contact them. The other party refuses to contact me further, even though I very politely only asked for insurance details. Do you have a procedure through which I can recover my damages?Lawyer
If I understand correctly, you are asking how it is possible to recover your damages. Based on article 6 WAM, you have your own right to compensation from the insurer. If you have the name of the insurer with policy number, you can report your damage to the insurer and ask for compensation. If you do not have this information, you can request the insurance information from the RDW via the registration number of the car. In this way, you can still recover your damages.Take the next step
