Didn't receive your rental agreement? Get advice!

Questioner

On May 15, I signed a rental contract for an assisted living home. The residential care consultant said that something still had to be done with the rental contract, because of the nervousness I didn't hear what exactly. It was a whole pile of conditions, which I couldn't read all at that moment, but had to sign. I did that. But now I don't know what I actually signed. The next day I asked by email if the residential care consultant could send this as soon as possible, this was promised, but to date, May 23, it still hasn't happened. My question is: isn't the landlord obliged to give the signed rental contract to me, the tenant, immediately? I have rented the house since May 15 and have not yet received a rental contract. Is this allowed?

This is remarkable. Normally you receive the rental contract in duplicate with the request to return 1 signed and to keep the other. It is unclear to me what should have happened to the rental contract, but subsequent additions are not permitted without your knowledge and consent. I advise you to inform the landlord in writing whether and which possible adjustments have been made to the rental contract and request that the contract be sent promptly. If you are unable to reach an agreement, I would be happy to look into your case.
