Cancel Subscription: Tips & Advice

on 8-7-2017 my annual subscription to the daily newspaper trouw started. the payment of the subscription was always per period of 4 weeks. today - 1 june 2018 - i cancelled my subscription by phone. i would like to stop at the end of the subscription period. because the newspaper calculates with periods of four weeks that would be somewhere in the beginning of july, not after a year. by email trouw indicates that the subscription will not stop until 29-7-2018. that is much longer than the subscription period of 4 weeks and also far beyond the end date of the original subscription. how can i oblige trouw to terminate this subscription in time?

Start date of the subscription is 8-7-2017 and the term is 1 year, then until cancellation. This is stated on the letter with subscription details that I received from Trouw.

You have a one month notice period. So you have to give notice of the end on every day, after that the notice date applies. In my opinion the condition that the newspaper charges per 4 weeks is in conflict with the law that states that you can cancel every day.
