Rights when applying for a job: Health and Selection
Questioner
Good day, I just heard, via a recruitment agency, that a certain company is not inviting me for an interview. They say they have better candidates, mention 1 valid reason for this, but also add the 2nd reason that I took a long time to complete my studies. The fact that I took a long time to complete my studies is a direct result of an illness that is now a thing of the past, something that the recruitment agency has also reported, if all goes well. In my opinion, health problems from the past may not be included in a selection procedure, is this correct, and how can I best address this?Lawyer
You may not ask about health issues (which illness etc.) if there is no relationship between your health and your work. You do not have to bring this up yourself. This applies strongly to the job interview. The fact that someone has taken a long time to complete their studies can be a reason not to be invited for the interview.
