Legal Advice on Dismissal and Notice Period
Questioner
Dear Sir/Madam, Due to the fact that I have moved and now have to travel 100km per day for my job, I have handed in my resignation. At my work they have a one month notice period from the new month. Now I did this in mid-June with my employer, since I can start on July 1st at a company near me. I have a 0-hour contract. I would prefer not to follow the notice period of one month. Are there any consequences to this, apart from the fact that it is not entirely neat?Lawyer
If you do not observe the notice period, you are in principle liable for damages for (usually) 1 month's salary, the so-called fixed compensation. You must then pay this to your employer. I advise you to consult with the employer about the dismissal date in order to arrive at a joint solution.Take the next step
