Legal assistance for rental problems
Questioner
I rent a practice space and a building with multiple spaces. Because I am not liable for VAT, no VAT is charged on the rent. Now the landlord charges a surcharge on the rent as compensation because he cannot offset all VAT. This surcharge is not mentioned in the rental agreement, there is only a basic rent price. He only sends invoices with a higher amount (rent plus surcharge) with the description 'treatment room rent'. Am I now obliged to pay this higher amount or only the amount we agreed upon in writing in the contract?Lawyer
You only need to pay the rent amount agreed in writing without the surcharge unless agreed. To be sure, the rental contract needs to be reviewed. You can email me this via the link next to this answer.Take the next step
