Legal advice rental contract - Rechtswinkel.nl

Questioner

Our son and daughter-in-law signed a contract this week for an apartment, to which they will receive the keys on August 20. Now today they are called by the realtor that the landlord has mentioned that the boiler has broken down, carbon monoxide is coming out. The costs are 15 euros per month extra to rent. They can't get out of the contract, says the realtor. Is that true?? Because they signed a contract and didn't know that the boiler was broken.

Lawyer

A boiler is inextricably and permanently attached to the rented object and therefore it is part of the content of the rental agreement. The fact that the service costs are now higher is the landlord's risk.
