Legal questions about caravan storage?
Questioner
Good day, I have a question about caravan storage. We have a storage for our caravan that we pay for annually. Now we have sold the caravan and want to cancel the place, but the conditions state that this must be done before July 1. The storage year runs from October 1 to September 30. So we paid until September 30 and the caravan has been out of storage since July 15. So we would not be using the place we paid for for 2.5 plus we would have to pay until September 30 next year. Of course we don't mind about those 2.5 months, but is it legally possible to oblige us to pay for another year? Thanks in advance for your response!Lawyer
In principle not. After the contract year, it can be cancelled monthly, but it is possible that there are different provisions in the general terms and conditions that justify timely cancellation, namely before 1 July. In this case, it is unreasonable that you pay for another year. I advise you to file a complaint in writing and to reclaim any payment. If you cannot reach an agreement, I would be happy to look at your case.Questioner
Thank you very much for your response! I will get to work on it, we have not received the bill yet so we do not have to claim the money back, that saves us! If I cannot reach an agreement with the landlord, I will contact you!Take the next step
