Legal Advice on Contracts and Termination

We signed a contract almost 4 years ago for 5 years. We haven't used the alarm system for over a year now, so we haven't used the control room either. They know that too, a 29.95 per month paid neatly. We had to sign a 5 year contract but I find a 5 year contract really unmanageable. I tried to cancel it after 3 years but that is not allowed. Is this legal???
