Legal Assistance for Car Purchase Problems
Questioner
On a Tuesday recently I traded my car in for a newer one at a garage. A fairly cheap used car, but still assuming that everything is in order. After 1 day of driving the car started to stall, and 3 days after purchase it wouldn't start at all. I called the garage in question (who indicated during the test drive that I could always call if something was wrong) but they said they couldn't do anything for me and after an unfriendly conversation the connection was broken. The car was extensively examined by the roadside assistance and ultimately it appeared that it could not be repaired. The roadside assistance advised me to call the scrapyard and I did so. Now in retrospect I wonder whether I was entitled to compensation from the garage where I bought the car. Given that I have now simply thrown my money away.Lawyer
You have a duty of investigation that goes far with relatively cheap cars. On the other hand, the car must be sound, but you cannot have high expectations of a relatively cheap car. Only if the car is defective, which for example endangers road safety, then the seller must proceed with repairs. If possible, I advise you to complain to the seller. If you cannot reach an agreement, I would be happy to look at your case.Take the next step
