Legal Advice on Insurance Cancellation

Questioner

As co-organizer of a 1-day motorized event, we had taken out 2 insurances. 1, a general event insurance, and 2, a separate insurance for the participants of the event. Now, after receiving the invoice, it turns out that, due to a misunderstanding within our board, the premium is 1000 euros more expensive than expected. However, we only receive the invoice, the policy and the general terms and conditions 16 days after our event. The general terms and conditions clearly state that after receiving the policy, you have a 14-day reflection period. Contacted the insurer, but they did not respond. I want to invoke the general terms and conditions and cancel the insurance, afterwards, but within the 14 days' reflection period after receiving the policy... Please let us know your opinion on this. Thank you in advance!

You can inform the insurer in writing, for example by email, that you want to cancel the insurance or adjust the insurance so that coverage starts in time. The insurer will then cancel the policy. If you cannot reach an agreement, I would be happy to look at your case.

Thanks for your response! The event already took place 4 weeks ago. I compose an email to the insurance company and await a response.
