Solving Rental Problems: Spotlighting Ghost Resident

Questioner

Through a rental agent I have been given a house to rent since January 2018. Yesterday (16-10) I found out (post) that someone else has been registered at my address for a month. I will contact my landlord, but I want to be sure that this registration has no financial consequences for me in terms of rent allowance and municipal taxes, etc. Can I have this person deregistered (I don't know him, name known via the received post). This smells like crime, but privacy regulations make it impossible to stop this and I don't want to pay unjustified assessments for this ghost resident. Can you tell me what are the correct steps I need to take?

Lawyer

You must request an 'address investigation' from your municipality. This can be done using your Digi Code, fill in the form, send it in and the 'ghost person' will then be deregistered.
