Lease law in case of leakage - Legal advice

Questioner

Good day, For 3 weeks now I have been renting a room in the centre of Delft in a somewhat outdated house. Now after a rain shower last night I noticed that water is running through the side of the roof into my room. Very bad. Is closing the roof/protecting my room from leaking water something the landlord has to arrange to be fixed? Thank you very much.

Of course, this is a maintenance obligation for the landlord. It is advisable that you address the landlord on this. If this does not happen, you can demand a reduction in rent or have the defect repaired at the landlord's expense.
