In 2013 I was deregistered from the GBA because I went to work abroad. At the end of 2018 I returned to the Netherlands and now after almost 6 years I receive a letter from a bailiff.What about the 5 year limitation period? Does this also apply if you lived abroad.My email address was known to them before I left so they could always contact me.

You can always rely on the limitation period, in which case it is up to the claimant to demonstrate that they have interrupted the claim (extended the limitation period). By the way, it's not about a court judgment that was obtained against you, is it? Because then there are different rules.
