Liability for Flight Problems

We're stranded at Milan Airport. Our Vueling flight, scheduled for July 25th, has been moved up to July 24th. Tix.nl, the discounter that got in the way, didn't inform us. Not by email, not through a special activation website. Not at all. Now we're on a bus back to the Netherlands. It's been 13 hours. How can we hold Tix.nl liable? Vueling refers to Tix.nl.
