Legal Help with Bamboo and Fencing

Questioner

For privacy reasons, I have approximately 3-meter-high bamboo in certain areas of my garden. It's located far enough away from the property line, a 1.8-meter-high fence. The bamboo doesn't overhang the fence. Over a year ago, while I was on vacation, my neighbor, without any consultation, started cutting the bamboo back to about one meter on my property, level with the fence. I confronted him about it. His argument was that he considered the bamboo "wild" and obstructing his view. After I threatened legal action, he promised to stop. However, he simply continued to keep the bamboo on my property "short," preferably during my vacations. He's apparently not open to reason. What legal recourse do I have to stop this?

Questioner

If you're in the right, and not your neighbor, you can demand that he stop immediately. If he fails to do so, you can petition the court to order him to do so, under penalty of a fine for violation. I'd be happy to look into it. In any case, your neighbor isn't allowed to just start cutting and pruning your garden.

Questioner

Thank you for your reply. Does this specifically mean I should report the deliberate destruction of my property?

Questioner

That's possible, but the police will pay little or no attention to it. In civil law, there are more possibilities. Please remember that you will still need to gather evidence.
