Does Van Dam's Law also apply to contracts concerning the safekeeping of goods? I know that Van Dam's Law doesn't apply to rental contracts, and therefore rental contracts can have a longer notice period, but what about safekeeping? The owner of the caravan storage facility has stipulated in his contract that it is an annual contract, running from September 1st to September 1st, and that cancellation is possible annually before July 1st. This means a two-month notice period, otherwise full payment for one year will follow. I believe that a one-year contract is a fixed-term contract, and therefore automatically ends automatically, meaning I'm not obligated to cancel before July 1st. I also believe that I can cancel the contract at any time, observing the statutory notice period of one month after the end of the first year. Is this correct?

Okay, thanks for your quick reply! So there really is no longer any possibility to cancel the contract after July 1st before the start of the second contract year? There are also no further conditions in the contract, such as the sale or loss of the caravan. Is this even allowed?

No, you must complete the contract. Yes, some things will be left unsettled, but the law will then determine what needs to be done.
