Legal Help for Car Seat Problems
Questioner
Dear reader, In 2016, we bought two Nuna Rebl car seats from Babypark for €549 each for our twins. They were supposedly among the best seats they had, and they were incredibly practical, thanks to their 360-degree rotation. In the fall of 2016, there was an ANWB car seat test, and the Nuna Rebl tested negative. In 2017, there was a recall, and you received the updated "Nuna Rebl Plus." Unfortunately, we weren't notified at the time, and Babypark didn't inform us either. In 2018 (when I accidentally read about a recall), I called Babypark. They pointed me in the direction of the manufacturer. So I called Nuna, but I hit a brick wall. It was just my bad luck that I didn't see the recall advertised in various media, and I couldn't claim a replacement for a safe model. I then decided to leave it at that because we were busy with our daughter, who turned out to have brain damage and epilepsy, and we were entering a medical saga. However, now we're considering a third child, and I'm already getting angry at the thought that we "invested" in expensive car seats and I can't/don't want to use them. What are my rights? Can I still claim the safe, newer version? Kind regards, LiekeQuestioner
Yes, the seller demonstrably supplied you with a defective product, so you should contact them for repair, but in this case, for a safe replacement. You can probably determine whether the recall was justified by looking at the terms and conditions of the product and the recall. It's easier to hold the Dutch seller liable now. They'll then have to resolve the matter with their manufacturer.Take the next step
