Legal assistance with car purchase problems
Questioner
On December 19th, we purchased a car worth €23,950. We picked it up from the garage at 6:00 PM. On the way home, it drove fine, and everything seemed fine. Upon arriving home three hours later, we heard a strange noise. The car was broken. The garage now refuses to cover the costs of repairing the vehicle because we signed a warranty waiver. This doesn't seem fair to me. Did you deliberately sell me a broken car? What can we do? He demands that we only help if we're 50/50. I don't want the vehicle anymore because I've lost all confidence in him.Questioner
You must notify the garage owner of the defect by registered letter (also by regular mail or email) and allow a reasonable period of time to resolve the issue. I may be able to assist you on a pro bono basis. Feel free to contact me without obligation.Questioner
Thank you for your prompt response. That would be very helpful. We did indeed send a formal notice of default to the garage owner. They hired legal representation, so they've now responded, adding another two weeks.Questioner
