Hello, our agreement states that my ex has to work more to provide for herself and to reduce her alimony payments. She works 20 hours a week and earns an undeclared living cleaning income for several households. She doesn't want to work anymore either; she literally says... there's no oversight and she just lets me pay. Rumors are now going around that her employer has given her more hours, but she's keeping it a secret from me, and every one of her colleagues I ask understandably doesn't want to get involved. It's so unfair! What can I do to find out how many hours she works for her employer?Questioner
She might respond to a letter from a lawyer requesting her to submit her 2019 annual statement and the last three payslips, but I suspect she probably won't. In that case, proceedings could be initiated to reduce spousal support. She would then, by definition, have to provide her payslips and the like. If she doesn't file a defense and doesn't appear in court, the court will grant the request to reduce alimony. If she does appear, she will have to provide the aforementioned access. Can you provide evidence that she's working illegally? If so, she has demonstrable income, which could also lead to a reduction in alimony. Consider, for example, witness statements that she is indeed working illegally, or photos showing her doing so in other people's homes.Take the next step
